Udupi In Charge Minister Jayamala stressed the need to teach a lesson to BJP, which has been creating rift among the communities in the name of religion for political gain. “The Congress and JD(S) will unitedly fight against BJP.”
Speaking at the convention of Congress-JD(S) workers, organised as a part of Shimoga Lok Sabha by election campaign at Byndoor on Sunday, she said, “There is no religion above love and trust.”
“The BJP has been sowing the seeds of hate among the people for political gain. There is a need to defeat the communal party.”
The BJP has been levelling false allegations against the coalition government. The Congress and the JD(S) workers should unitedly fight against the BJP, Jayamala said.
The minister said that the unemployment was on the rise in the country. The price of petrol and diesel had been hiked many times in the past several months.
However, the BJP leaders are silent on the burning issues in the country.
The coalition government in the state has chalked out several welfare programmes for the people. There is a need to create awareness on the same during the campaign, she said.
“I am happy that I have been provided an opportunity to contest the byelection from Shimoga constituency,” Congress-JD(S) candidate Madhu Bangarappa said.
Madhu said with the support of people he will win the election.
Former ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake and Pramod Madhwaraj also spoke on the occasion.
