Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesperson M Lakshmana criticised the state budget and demanded District In-charge Minister S T Somashekar to give up the responsibility of the district.

In a press conference here, on Tuesday, Lakshmana said, “The budget has no new programmes for the city and Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has failed to earmark sufficient funds for the development of Mysuru.

Claiming that MP Pratap Simha and Minister Somashekar had submitted a list of 17 demands, Lakshmana said the CM has not considered even a single demand. The MP and the Minister had demanded to constitute Mysuru Dasara Authority and Tourism Authority. Besides, they had requested to announce Mysuru as a ‘Heritage City’ in the budget. But, not a single demand has been met, he said.

The MP and the Minister are misleading the people with false assurances. The Minister has failed in getting needed schemes for Mysuru. Thus, he must give up his responsibility of district in-charge, Lakshmana demanded.

Alleging that the budget was caste-based, Lakshmana said that no other chief minister has presented such a budget.

We have no objection for earmarking Rs 500 crore for Vokkaliga Development Corporation, but the funds should have been equally distributed, he opined.
