Senior TV journalist Navika Kumar has been named in an FIR registered in Maharashtra's Parbhani district against now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who had allegedly made objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammad during a news debate hosted by Kumar, police said on Tuesday.
After bulldozing home of violence 'mastermind', authorities mull action against others on list
After the demolishing the house of the alleged mastermind of last Friday’s violence here, authorities are now going over a list of 37 other accused for possibly similar action.
An official said the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) is trying to identify the homes of the 37 people and action “according to the law” will be taken if their building plans have not been approved.

9 detained in J-K's Bhaderwah; curfew relaxed for 5 hrs in Kishtwar
Bhaderwah/Jammu, Jun 13 (PTI) Nine people were detained on Tuesday in curfew-bound Bhaderwah town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, while restrictions were relaxed in nearby Kishtwar district headquarters for five hours, officials said.
The curfew was imposed in the two towns last Thursday following communal tension over the controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad by now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and certain social media posts by local right wing activists in her support.

Mild tension after rally in support of Nupur Sharma; case booked
A rally organised by some people in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma here led to mild tension after another group objected to it and raised slogans even as a case was registered, police said on Tuesday.
The incident happened on Monday night at Hasmathpet when a group of people raising slogans and holding placards took out a rally in support of Nupur Sharma and noticing it another group gathered there and shouted slogans against Sharma and as both the groups confronted one another, police rushed to the area and dispersed members of the two sides and the situation is peaceful, they said.

BJP leader arrested for 'objectionable' Facebook post in support of Nupur Sharma
A local BJP leader was arrested in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district for an "objectionable" Facebook post in support of the party's now-suspended spokesperson Nupur Sharma, police said on Tuesday.
Anisha Sinha, an executive committee member of the BJP's district committee, was arrested on Monday, they said.

Police in Northwest district cancel leave of its personnel due to ‘communal scenario’, law and order situation
The Deputy Commissioner of Police of Northwest district in Delhi has issued an order cancelling the leave of all police personnel, citing communal scenario and the prevailing law and order situation in the national capital.
The order, dated June 13, was issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police Usha Rangnani.
In view of communal scenario and prevailing law and order situation in Delhi, all kinds of leave(s) are hereby stopped with immediate effect. The leaves already granted or sanctioned are also hereby cancelled, according to the order.

UP man arrested for objectionable post on Prophet Mohammed
A 25-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly uploading an objectionable post on Prophet Mohammed on social media, a police official said.
Bajrang Singh Rajput, a resident of Kureji village in Rasra area, allegedly uploaded the post on Instagram on Sunday, Rasra Circle Officer Shiv Narain Vaish said.

Bajrang Dal to hold nationwide protest against violence over remarks against Prophet: VHP
Bajrang Dal activists will hold a nationwide protest this week against the recent incidents of violence in parts of the country over remarks against Prophet Mohammad, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) announced on Tuesday.
The RSS affiliate said its youth wing activists will hold a sit-in in district administration headquarters across the country on Thursday against the "growing extremist incidents by Islamic Jihadi fundamentalists", and also submit a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind.
Prophet remark: 337 people booked for violence in UP; 13 FIRs registered
The Uttar Pradesh Police has so far arrested 337 people from eight districts in connection with the violence that erupted following the Friday prayers on June 10 over a controversial remark against Prophet Mohammad, an official said on Tuesday.
Thirteen FIRs have also been registered in nine districts in this connection, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said in a statement.
Of the 337 people arrested, 92 are from Prayagraj, 83 from Saharanpur, 52 from Hathras, 41 from Ambedkar Nagar, 40 from Moradabad, 18 from Firozabad, six from Aligarh and five from Jalaun, Kumar said giving in a district-wise breakup.
Treating accused as convicts is unlawful: AIMPLB
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has said that treating accused as convicts was not only unlawful but also a way of creating terror and panic.
In a statement, the Board cited visuals on social media to highlight alleged police excesses on individuals detained on allegations of stone-pelting and violence.
The board also appealed to the members of the Muslim community to "exercise restraint and limit their protests to handing over of memorandums to local authorities seeking action against those who have insulted the Prophet to express their disapproval and resentment if any, against such acts."
J'khand Guv summons senior officials, raises questions over Ranchi violence
Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais on Monday summoned DGP Neeraj Sinha and other senior officials at Raj Bhavan and when they met him, he raised questions as to why preventive measures or action to disperse the crowd were not taken during the recent violent protests in Ranchi that claimed two lives and left over two dozen people injured.
The director general of police informed Bais that as per an Intelligence Bureau (IB) report, a turnout of only 150 people was expected during the June 10 protest in the state capital over controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad by now suspended BJP spokespersons.
