Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma's wife Mehtab Chandee Sangma has secured early leads in the bypoll to Gambegre constituency in West Garo Hills district, officials said on Saturday.

Mehtab, the National People's Party (NPP) candidate, is leading by around 1,000 votes over her nearest rival TMC's Sadhiarani M Sangma, securing close to 3,400 votes in the first round of counting, they said.

BJP's Bernard Marak is trailing, securing 151 votes, while Independents Jerry and Sengkrabirth have managed 264 and 37 votes, respectively.

The bypoll was necessitated following the resignation of Congress MLA Saleng A Sangma, days after he won the Tura Parliamentary seat earlier this year.

Wayanad Lok Sabha bypolls: Priyanka in lead by over 35,000 votes after one hour of counting

Wayanad: Congress-led UDF candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was in the lead by over 35,000 votes after one hour of counting of the ballots polled in the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll in Kerala on Saturday, according to reports.

According to figures released by the Election Commission, Priyanka is leading by 4,374 votes.

The counting of votes polled commenced at 8 am with postal ballots being taken up first.

The strong rooms, where the EVMs were kept, were opened more than an hour before counting began.

The bypoll for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat was held on November 13.

Of the 16 candidates who contested, the main contenders are Priyanka, who is making her electoral debut, CPI(M)-led LDF's Sathyan Mokeri, a political veteran, and BJP-headed NDA's Navya Haridas.

Punjab bypolls: AAP candidate Harinder Singh Dhaliwal leading from Barnala seat

Chandigarh: AAP candidate Harinder Singh Dhaliwal was leading in the bypoll to Barnala assembly segment against his nearest rival the Congress' Kuldeep Singh Dhillon, the initial trend showed.

Dhaliwal was leading by 634 votes while BJP's Kewal Dhillon was in the third spot.

The counting of votes for the bypolls to Punjab's four assembly segments began at 8 am on Saturday.

Bypolls to Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal (SC) and Barnala assembly segments took place on November 20. The bypolls were necessitated after the incumbent legislators were elected to the Lok Sabha earlier this year.

Karnataka bypolls: Nikhil leads in Channapatna, BJP ahead in Shiggaon, while Congress in front in Sandur

Bengaluru: Early trends show the ruling Congress leading in Sandur segment, and BJP and JD(S) ahead in Shiggaon and Channapatna constituencies respectively, as the counting of votes is underway for bypolls held in three Assembly segments in Karnataka.

The by-election for three segments was held on November 13, and the trends show the three parties leading in the seats they had represented in the past.

The bypolls for Sandur, Shiggaon and Channapatna were necessitated as the seats fell vacant following the election of their respective representatives -- E Tukaram of Congress, former CM Basavaraj Bommai of BJP, and Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy of JD(S) to Lok Sabha in May elections.

The bypolls witnessed a straight fight between the ruling Congress and BJP in Sandur and Shiggaon segments, while in Channapatna, JD(S) which is part of the NDA took on the grand old party.

In Channapatna, which witnessed a "high profile" battle, among the three segments, JD(S)' actor-turned-politician Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who is the son of Kumaraswamy and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda's grandson, is leading against Congress' C P Yogeeshwara.

A five-time MLA from the segment and a former minister, Yogeeshwara is also an actor-turned-politician. He had joined the Congress after quitting the BJP ahead of his nomination.

BJP and JD(S) leaders had together campaigned for Nikhil in Channapatna.

In Shiggaon, the BJP's Bharath Bommai, son of Basavaraj Bommai is leading against Congress' Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan, who had faced defeat against the former chief minister in the 2023 Assembly polls.

The counting of votes will be held on Saturday for the bypolls to Punjab's four assembly seats, which went to polls on Wednesday.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress and BJP are looking to register victories in these seats.

The bypolls to four assembly seats -- Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal (SC) and Barnala -- took place on Wednesday.

Counting of votes for by-polls in six Bengal seats on Saturday amid RG Kar incident fallout

The counting of votes for six Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, where by-polls were held last week, is scheduled for Saturday, with the election results drawing significant attention due to the ongoing protests over the RG Kar incident.

The constituencies up for grabs are Naihati, Haroa, Medinipur, Taldangra, Sitai (SC), and Madarihat (ST).

The counting of votes would begin at 8 AM on Saturday.

The by-polls on November 13 saw a voter turnout of around 69.29 per cent.

Uttar Pradesh bypolls: First major face-off between BJP, Oppn since Lok Sabha polls earlier this year

The counting of votes for the high stake by-polls to three Assembly segments in Karnataka, which witnessed a fierce fight between the ruling Congress and a combative BJP-JD(S) alliance, will take place on Saturday.
