Three-tier security arrangement in place in Baramati: Deputy SP

As all eyes on are on Baramati. where Deputy CM Ajit Pawar of NCP (Mahayuti) is contesting against Yugendra Shriniwas Pawar of NCP-SCP (Maha Vikas Aghadi), Three-tier security arrangement is in place at counting centres.

Deputy SP, Pune Rural Sudarshan Rathore said. "As per the ECI guidelines, we have made three-tier security arrangement here. There are inner-middle and outer cordons placed here...We are checking everyone, mobile phones are not allowed inside. Around 250 jawans and 20 officials are present here today..."

Who are the Independents in the race?

A record 2,087 out of the total 4,136 candidates contesting from 288 constituencies across Maharashtra in the 2024 assembly elections are independents. In the 2019 state assembly elections, 1,400 independent candidates were in the fray out of which 13 won. The increase in the number of independents this year has raised concerns over their potential impact on the outcome despite low chances of them securing seats individually.

Some independents such as Hina Gavit, Sameer Bhujbal and Ranjit Shinde (son of sitting MLA, Baban Shinde) are likely to hamper the electoral prospects of major party candidates.

Both candidates in Baramati are strong, says Yugendra Pawar's father

Ajit Pawar of the NCP-AP is facing off against Yugendra Pawar from Sharad Pawar’s NCP in Baramati. Traditionally, Baramati has been a stronghold of the NCP, but with the recent split in the party, the seat has become a battleground. 

Speaking on the intense family feud in Baramati, Shriniwas Pawar, father of Yugendra Pawar said, "Both candidates in Baramati are strong (Ajit Pawar and Yugendra Pawar), in two to three years things will be clear."

Karnataka minister G Parameshwara confident of MVA forming govt in Maharashtra

Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara expressed confidence on Saturday that his party would come to power in Maharashtra and that the Congress, along with its alliance partner, would form the government.

"There are two types of predictions, some of them are saying MVA will come to power, while some are saying BJP-Shiv Sena are going to come back to power. However, the ground reality is that MVA is going to come," he said.

Hello and welcome to Maharashtra Election Result 2024 Live blog. The vote counting will begin at 8 am today. The single-phase voting for Maharashtra’s 288-seat Assembly concluded on November 20. This year, Maharashtra reported voter participation of 65.02 per cent, with the Kolhapur—home to ten assembly constituencies—had the highest turnout at 76.25 per cent, according to the most recent numbers from the Election Commission. The exit polls indicate a clean sweep for ruling Mahayuti in Maharashtra.
