PM Modi did not raise the issue of extradition of Zakir Naik, says Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim
On the question regarding the extradition of Zakir Naik, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim says, "It was not raised by the prime minister. He did raise it many years back.
"But the issue is much larger than that. I'm not talking about one person, I'm talking about the sentiment of extremism, of compelling cases and evidence that suggests the atrocities committed by an individual or groups or parties.
These are of concern to us. The atrocities of Israeli forces in Gaza, that is real. We are open to any ideas and if evidence is submitted, we will not condone terrorism. But we have to produce a compelling case to support it. We have been tough. We've been working together with India on many of these issues against terrorism. But I don't think one case should deter us from further collaboration and enhancing our bilateral cooperation."
India and Malaysia on Tuesday elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim held extensive talks focusing on expanding cooperation in several sectors including trade, investment and defence.
Alok Kumar, International President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad commented on Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. and said, "In my opinion, the government's decision to send the Waqf Amendment Bill to the Joint Parliamentary Committee is appropriate. I believe in the coming two to three months, there should be a serious discussion in the country on this issue.
"Some provisions should be welcomed by everyone, such as making the income and expenses of the Waqf transparent, as well as ensuring that the land and properties are being used properly.
"Reforms were necessary, and having all land records registered should not be objected to by anyone," he said.
Devendra Fadnavis said, "Badlapur unfortunate incident will be speedily investigated and the case will be processed in the fast track court.
"It has been decided to appoint senior lawyer Ujwal Nikam as a special public prosecutor."
