India Political Highlights | CMs of 10 states skipped NITI Aayog's governing council meeting, says CEO
Hello readers, the the 9th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog unfolded today with much drama. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the meet. While other I.N.D.I.A. bloc Chief Ministers decided to boycott the meet which is said to be themed around 'Viksit Bharat@2047', West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee attended the meet. Minutes later, the Bengal CM stormed out of the meeting boycotting it and alleged that she was 'stopped from speaking'. PIB later 'fact checked' her saying that the West Bengal's CMs remarks were misleading. Subsequently, other BJP leaders have piped up saying that all CMs get 7 minutes to talk - a time limit exceeded by Mamata. Meanwhile, PM Modi in a display of 'double engine' politics held a meeting with CMs and deputy CMs of BJP-ruled states after the NITI Aayog meeting to ensure development programmes were on track in these states.
