<p>A special court in the city has enhanced the seven-year jail term given to two convicts in the 2010 Chinnaswamy Stadium blast case by awarding them a life sentence.</p>.<p>Accused Aftab Alam alias Farukh and Ahmed Jamal, said to be members of Indian Mujahideen, were arrested by the crime branch police in connection with the blast. A charge sheet was filed subsequently.</p>.<p>The accused admitted to the crime before the court, which had awarded both of them a jail term of seven years. However, advocates for CCB had questioned the verdict and appealed to the high court requesting enhancement of the punishment.</p>.<p>Hearing the petition, the high court had directed the special court to review the sentence. The special court issued a new order on Thursday, revising the sentence to life term.</p>.<p>Special Public Prosecutor C A Ravindra had argued the case.</p>.<p>The convicts had hatched the plan for the blast while they were living in Jamia Nagar, Delhi. They arrived in the city in separate teams and planted bombs in four places near the stadium, CCB police said, adding that one of the four bombs exploded while the police deactivated the other three.</p>.<p>In connection with the case, an associate of Yasin Bhatkal said to be the co-founder of the terror group Indian Mujahideen, and three others were given a seven-year sentence in 2018.</p>
