<p>Belagavi: A person who had raped and murdered a three-year-old girl at Raibag taluk has been convicted and sentenced death punishment by hanging and fined Rs 45,000 by Additional District and Sessions Court Fast Track Special Court-1 Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act Court on Friday. </p><p>According to prosecution, accused Uddappa Ramappa Ganger resident of Kurubgodi, Harugeri in Raibag despite being aware that the victim was three-year-old had lured her with chocolates on September 21, 2017 and had raped her in the nearby sugarcane fields. Ganger had murdered the victim by putting mud in her mouth, nose and eyes and had also buried her from head to abdomen before absconding. </p>.Watching or even storage of pornography involving children is offence under POCSO Act: Supreme Court.<p>Harugeri police had registered cases against him under sections 366, 376 (2), (I), 302 and 201 IPC with sections 4 and 6 of POCSO Act. </p><p>Investigating officer Suresh Shinge had invested the case and filed chargesheet in the Additional District and Sessions Court Fast Track Special Court-1 POCSO Act Court. </p><p>Judge C M Pushpalata examined 25 evidences, 52 documents and 8 material objects. Ganger was convicted and sentenced death punishment by hanging and fined Rs 45,000. Parents of the victim have been asked to avail compensation of Rs 3 lakh from District Legal Services Authority.</p><p>Special Public Prosecutor L V Patil pleaded for the prosecution.</p>
