There is a need to defeat the communal party.”</p>.<p class="bodytext">The BJP has been levelling false allegations against the coalition government. The Congress and the JD(S) workers should unitedly fight against the BJP, Jayamala said. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The minister said that the unemployment was on the rise in the country. The price of petrol and diesel had been hiked many times in the past several months.</p>.<p class="bodytext">However, the BJP leaders are silent on the burning issues in the country.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The coalition government in the state has chalked out several welfare programmes for the people. There is a need to create awareness on the same during the campaign, she said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“I am happy that I have been provided an opportunity to contest the byelection from Shimoga constituency,” Congress-JD(S) candidate Madhu Bangarappa said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Madhu said with the support of people he will win the election.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Former ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake and Pramod Madhwaraj also spoke on the occasion.</p>
