Seers of Dalit, backward class communities declare unconditional moral support for Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Strongly opposing the Raj Bhavan granting sanction for prosecution, the Federation of Dalit-Backward Classes seers, led by Kaginele Mutt Niranjanananda seer, met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday and extended their unconditional support to him.

The seer’s meeting with the CM assumes significance as the Karnataka Federation Oppressed Classes has already decided to lay a seige to Raj Bhavan on August 27, opposing the Governor granting sanction of prosecution in connection with the alleged Mysuru site allotment scam.

Condemn conspiracies

A statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office stated that the seers strongly condemned the conspiracies of the union government

and the Raj Bhavan to artificially destabilise the government. “The seers have declared that they will stand unitedly and fight against this conspiracy, in favour of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,” the statement read.

Delegation of seers

The delegation of seers that met the chief minister, included Niranjananandapuri Swami of Kaginele Kanaka Gurupeetha; Shantaveera Swami of Kunchitiga Mutt, Hosadurga; Immadi Siddarameshwar of Bhovi Gurupeetha, Chitradurga andavamurthi Madara Chennaiah Swami, the statement said.

Sanction for prosecution

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on August 16 granted sanction for prosecution of Siddaramaiah in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment ‘scam’, giving a major jolt to the nearly 15-month-old Congress government.
