Man rescued after being stuck in Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital lift for 2 days

Thiruvananthapuram: A 59-year old person remained stuck inside a lift for two days at the Thiruvananthapuram government medical college hospital in Kerala.

Medical college hospital sources said that Ravindran Nair, a native of Thirumala near the city, got stuck inside the lift on Saturday.

Lift technicians who opened the lift for maintenance on Monday morning spotted Nair. He was in a weak condition and was rushed to the casualty. His condition is now reported to be stable.

Nair told reporters that his mobile phone got damaged and hence he could not contact anyone from inside the lift. Although he pressed the alarm buttons, it did not work.

Nair's family had filed a missing complaint on Saturday.

Three hospital staff, including lift operators and supervisors, were placed under suspension pending enquiry.

Opposition leader V D Satheesan of the Congress claimes that health minister Veena George should step down from the post if she is unable to ensure basic facilities at hospitals.
