Taiwan fishing boat seized for suspected illegal fishing, says Chinese coast guard

Beijing: China's coast guard said on Wednesday that it seized a Taiwan fishing boat for suspected illegal fishing, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The Fujian Coast guard boarded the boat and seized it on July 2, China's coast guard said.

The fishing boat was operating near China's coast close to a Taiwan-controlled island late on Tuesday, and Chinese officials took it to a Chinese port, Taiwan's coast guard said, in a further escalation of tensions.
