In a shocking incident, a woman Congress worker in Haryana was touched inappropriately on stage in the presence of senior party leaders, including Deepender Singh Hooda, during a rally in the state.
While the details of the rally and the accused are yet to be ascertained, senior Congress leader and MP Kumari Selja has confirmed the incident and sought serious action against the culprit. A video of the incident also went viral.
Speaking to ANI, Kumari Selja said that she spoke to the woman worker and condemned the incident.
"I spoke to her, she told me that some people were touching her and trying to remove her from the stage. We saw the same in the video as well and when I confirmed this with her, she told me that someone misbehaved with her. If something like this happens to a woman today, it is highly condemnable. Action should be taken on this," Selja told the news agency.
BJP lashed out at the Congress highlighting the incident. BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took to X and asked, "If women are not safe in Congress meetings in full public view during the daytime, can they be safe if Congress comes to power?"
He also said, “Remember Simi John, Sharda Rathore, Radhika Khera and many women who were abused by men in Congress itself or spoke up about 'casting couch' culture or 'chamdi-damdi' culture in Congress. Where is Priyanka Vadra and Rahul Gandhi? No ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon? Will they act on Hooda supporters?"
