Himachal Political Crisis Highlights: Congress to constitute 6-member committee, says Bhupinder Hooda
Amidst the confusion and chaos following Congress's loss of Himachal Pradesh's lone Rajya Sabha seat to BJP's Harsh Mahajan, the party swiftly moved to safeguard its government in the state. Today, the state witnessed significant political activities as party-appointed observers D K Shivakumar, Bhupesh Baghel, and Bhupinder Hooda convened meetings with MLAs and state Congress chief Pratibha Singh to restore stability to Sukhu's government. While the speaker disqualified the six rebel MLAs in the morning, D K Shivakumar and Hooda asserted that all is well within the party and the government and Sukhu will continue as CM for the next five years. Congress will also constitute a six-member committee to address the complaints of the rebel MLAs in the state. Priyanka Gandhi played 'pivotal' role in 'foiling Operation Lotus' in HP
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra played a "pivotal" role in protecting people's mandate in Himachal Pradesh, remaining in constant touch with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and senior leaders to "foil" the BJP's 'operation Lotus', sources said Thursday.
This came after the Congress asserted that the situation in Himachal Pradesh is "completely under control" of the party and the BJP has "failed" in its attempts to "destabilise the elected government" there.
"The way Congress MLAs rebelled in Himachal Pradesh during the Rajya Sabha elections, it seemed that another state would be lost from the hands of the Congress. But the high command of the party showed activeness and strictness, as it not only averted the crisis of rebellion but the government was also saved," a party source said.
